The Honeywell HHT-090 air purifier uses, a “permanent HEPAClean filter” and also improves on that functionality with a “permanent pre-filter,” which as you know clears the path for the HEPA filter to work its magic. To be honest, I’m not sure what the permanent jargon means. I think it points to the fact that the filters are washable, and therefore you could never replace them. I don’t know if eventually that might lead to a problem or not, but at any rate, the washable feature is always a plus, and this air treatment system works great.
As usual, the fans “inhale” the impurities in the air and it passes through the various filter levels. The Honeywell HHT-090 includes an ionizer for another kind of freshness, and, importantly, you can shut off the ionizer if you have concerns about ozone (or for any other reason).
The Honeywell HHT-090 received AHAM certification, so it has passed industry muster.
It delivers refreshed air up to five times per hour in a room of medium size. The fan has three speeds to adjust how quickly you want that to happen (against your concerns over noise and energy usage).
The Honeywell HHT-090 rates very highly in that it is quiet when it is turned on even on the highest setting.
I actually think the look of this air purifier is great, and the black will work well in most rooms. The tower shape is unique and so is the front grill.
There have been complaints of a plastic-y smell after use, but this smell subsides after regular use. If you live in an area with a lot of pollutants in the air, you may also want to consider investing in something more powerful, although this will capably perform run of the mill air purification.
Honeywell is very reputable brand, especially when it comes to manufacturing top notch medical devices. It is less expensive than the higher end models and still does an amicable job cleaning the air. Take a look at Amazon if you are curious how this air purifier rated among purchasers!
